Japan-only model and mains connection12 steps
  1. This reference covers the Japan-domestic XJ-V1 in the Japanese MA2008-D setup guide and MA2008-C operation guide.
  2. The setup guide expressly prohibits using this domestic unit overseas.
  3. Its supply is 100 V AC, 50/60 Hz; do not substitute the international model’s voltage specification.
  4. Use the supplied power cord only with this projector.
  5. Use the specified, grounded 100 V AC outlet in Japan.
  6. Connect earth before plugging into the outlet; disconnect earth only after unplugging.
  7. Keep the plug accessible and free of objects.
  8. Avoid overloaded multi-plug wiring and sharing the outlet with other equipment.
  9. If using an extension cord, observe its current rating.
  10. Do not use the cord bundled, near heaters, or covered by rugs; do not trap it in racks or walls, load it, heat it, modify, cut, bend forcibly, twist or pull it.
  11. Never handle the cord or plug with wet hands.
  12. When leaving, keep animals away and unplug the cord: chewing can cause a short circuit and fire.
Stop for smoke, unusual smell or abnormal heat4 steps
  1. Use adult supervision where children can approach or touch the projector.
  2. If smoke, an unusual smell or abnormal heat occurs, stop using it: continued use risks fire or electric shock.
  3. Unplug the power plug from the outlet.
  4. Contact the repair enquiry service or the dealer.
Stop for malfunction, water ingress or impact damage8 steps
  1. Do not continue using a malfunctioning projector even when operated according to the manual.
  2. If water, liquid or foreign objects enter, or it is dropped or damaged, stop using it.
  3. Turn off power.
  4. Unplug from the outlet.
  5. Contact the repair enquiry service or dealer.
  6. Keep water and liquid containers away.
  7. Do not disassemble or modify the projector: internal high voltage risks shock, burns and injury, and modification voids warranty/repair eligibility.
  8. Ask the repair service or dealer for internal inspection, adjustment and repair.
Safe placement, ventilation and projection light19 steps
  1. Use a firm, flat, stable surface; keep at least 30 cm from walls, with unobstructed intake and exhaust.
  2. Do not use in a confined space, cover with cloth, place on carpets, bedding, towels or soft seats, or stand it vertically.
  3. Lock cart wheels when using a cart.
  4. Operate at 5–35 °C.
  5. Avoid vibration, moisture, dust, cooking fumes, heaters, heated carpets, direct sun, unstable stands/high shelves, and wet locations such as bathrooms.
  6. Do not put heavy objects on it or stand on it.
  7. Never throw it into fire.
  8. Do not look into the illuminated lens, intake or exhaust.
  9. Before switching on, check that nobody is looking into them.
  10. Do not put magnifying glasses, mirrors or other refracting/reflecting objects in the projection beam.
  11. Supervise children.
  12. Do not touch or obstruct the hot exhaust.
  13. Keep heat-sensitive plastic and similar objects away and do not place them underneath.
  14. Do not open the cabinet.
  15. Before care, turn off and unplug.
  16. Do not touch the power plug during a thunderstorm.
  17. Do not place a fish tank or other lens-like object, or any object blocking light, in front of the operating lens; fire can result.
  18. Do not touch the projection lens or put foreign objects inside.
  19. Do not use flammable-gas sprays inside or around the projector.
Power-cord care and safe movement8 steps
  1. Unplug by holding the plug, not pulling the cable.
  2. Insert the plug fully.
  3. Unplug after use or during long non-use.
  4. At least once a year, unplug and remove dust from plug blades and their surrounding area with a dry cloth or vacuum.
  5. Do not use detergent on the cord, especially its plug.
  6. Before moving the projector, turn off and remove its power cord.
  7. The exhaust and surrounding area remain hot during operation and immediately after shutdown: carry it by both sides as illustrated, avoiding that hot area.
  8. Keep a separate written record of important stored settings; malfunction or repair may erase them.
Remote and battery safety12 steps
  1. Do not disassemble or modify the remote; have the repair service or dealer inspect, adjust or repair it.
  2. Keep it away from water.
  3. Use only the specified batteries.
  4. Do not disassemble, short-circuit, heat, burn or charge them.
  5. Do not mix old/new batteries or different types.
  6. Insert with correct polarity.
  7. Remove exhausted batteries immediately and remove them for long non-use.
  8. If alkaline-battery fluid enters an eye, do not rub: immediately rinse with clean water and obtain medical treatment.
  9. Dispose of batteries according to local rules.
  10. Replace remote batteries at least once yearly regardless of use frequency.
  11. Do not leave exhausted batteries installed, because leaking can damage it.
  12. Avoid unapproved replacement types, incineration, crushing, cutting, extreme high/low temperature during use/storage/transport and extremely low air pressure: these can cause explosion or flammable liquid/gas leakage.
Magnets, annual internal cleaning and disposal7 steps
  1. The projector contains magnets.
  2. People using pacemakers or other medical electrical equipment should keep it away from their equipment.
  3. If an abnormality is felt, move away immediately and consult a doctor.
  4. Keep magnetic recording media such as floppy disks, magnetic cards/tapes, prepaid cards and tickets away to avoid erasure.
  5. Arrange paid internal cleaning with the repair service or dealer once yearly; accumulated internal dust can reduce brightness or cause fire/failure.
  6. The guide especially recommends cleaning before the humid rainy season.
  7. Dispose of the projector without dismantling it, following local authority rules.
