Correctly connect the telephone cord and power plug.
Check 2
Try restarting, cycling power or a forced reset as described in the repair-check procedure.

Instructions from the manual
Install the base and handset without interference14 steps
  1. Use a stable, ventilated location away from heat, direct sunlight, flames, oily smoke and steam; avoid carpets, unstable or vibrating surfaces.
  2. Raise the base antenna straight upright and do not wrap cords around it.
  3. Obstacles such as metal doors, reinforced concrete, steel frames, mortar walls, metal-wire glass and insulation reduce range; different floors or buildings also reduce range.
  4. The approximately 100 m range applies without obstacles.
  5. Keep both base and handset about 3 m or more from other radio devices.
  6. Keep television/radio equipment at least 3 m away, or try a different mains socket for the base if reception suffers.
  7. For handset noise, use at least two antenna bars, keep other chargers/adapters and cables away, use a separate mains socket, and separate base and handset charger by at least 50 cm.
  8. Charge the handset adequately and do not cover its antenna during calls.
  9. Motion, passing vehicles, electrical noise and some hearing aids can cause interference.
  10. For CS television interference, move the unit away from the receiving equipment and use well-shielded CS/BS cables and distribution components.
  11. Stop use and contact Sharp support if harmful radio interference occurs.
  12. Use the base for confidential calls; deliberate radio interception remains possible.
  13. Return an unused handset to its charger.
  14. Near another 1.9 GHz cordless system, use the base temporarily if handset operation fails.

準備

Instructions from the manual
Connect and initialize the base21 steps
  1. Allow at least 10 cm behind the unit, 20 cm on the receiver side, 3 cm on the antenna side, and the original length plus 5 cm in front.
  2. Optical, ADSL and IP services use the separate connection instructions.
  3. Connect both ends of the receiver cord until they click and place the receiver on the base.
  4. Raise the antenna straight upright.
  5. Connect the supplied telephone cord to the telephone-line socket and the base line connector until they click, before connecting mains power; otherwise automatic line detection may be incorrect.
  6. Direct wiring requires a qualified installer; a three-pin telephone outlet requires an adapter or qualified installation.
  7. PBX/home systems require installation advice.
  8. Then insert the mains plug into AC 100 V.
  9. At ヒヅケ・ジコク [ケッテイ]ヲ オス, press Menu/Confirm.
  10. Enter a four-digit year and two-digit month and day, then the time in 24-hour format; check and confirm.
  11. If the clock setup does not appear, use the date/time-setting procedure.
  12. Complete the mobile-discount dialing setup appropriate to your line; use no discount dialing on optical service or IP-only service.
  13. With IP and a conventional-line subscription, enter the IP-release number (up to six digits).
  14. The unit then returns to standby and checks the line type.
  15. A beep indicates completion.
  16. If no beep occurs, set the line type again and use the cannot-call checks.
  17. The manual instructs making a chargeable test call to 177 after setup.
  18. Do not connect another telephone/fax in parallel.
  19. Use the supplied telephone cord or specified extension; other replacements must be labelled six-position, two-conductor.
  20. After moving to a different line or acquiring the unit used, set its line type manually.
  21. Clock transfer overwrites the handset clock when clock backup is enabled.
Check the factory-installed ribbon and take up slack6 steps
  1. The factory-tested trial ribbon prints only about ten A4 sheets.
  2. Obtain genuine gear-equipped UX-NR8G (33 m, one roll) or UX-NR8GW (two 33 m rolls).
  3. Open the recording-paper tray backwards and the operation panel forwards using their tabs.
  4. Lift the green rear-cover release lever and open the rear cover backwards.
  5. Turn the green gear two or three times in the indicated direction to remove slack.
  6. Close the rear cover first, pressing its marked area until it clicks; then close the operation panel and recording-paper tray in that order.
Install and charge the handset battery13 steps
  1. Insert the battery connector into the handset as shown, with its red and black leads correctly oriented.
  2. Route the lead beneath its guide and avoid pinching it.
  3. Place the battery in the compartment.
  4. Fit the cover from above and slide it upwards with light pressure until it clicks.
  5. Connect the handset charger to AC 100 V, place the handset on it and charge continuously for at least ten hours before first use or after battery replacement.
  6. A blank display may appear after a few minutes of charging.
  7. Use the handset where its antenna indicator has at least two bars.
  8. Full charge supports up to about eight hours of continuous calling.
  9. Low-charge warning beeps precede disconnection by about one minute: end the call and charge, or transfer the call to the base.
  10. Avoid charging close to magnetic/electromagnetic sources; charging may fail.
  11. Inductive charging can produce AM-radio noise.
  12. Keep multiple handsets from being too close together; radio interference can prevent ringing.
  13. Taking a handset off or returning it to the charger briefly blanks its display, which returns normally.

  5. Disable dial-tone detection or lift the receiver to send if automatic sending fails.
  6. Memory reception preserves data when paper/ribbon runs out; direct-to-paper reception cannot receive without both and may print on two sheets.
  7. Disabling reduction can split A4 output or produce a blank sheet.
  8. Automatic fax-tone detection works after answering an incoming automatic-fax call.
  9. Audio settings supply low/standard/high base transmit, handset transmit and handset receive levels; low/standard/high receive sound quality for base and all handsets; and base key sounds on/off.
